I don't think anything needs to be said about this movie, except for probably an apology for catching up on it after 3 years.Nothing enthralls me anymore, Nothing surprises me anymore, I know not the depth of my own soul, nothing allures me anymore..............

Ray
I don't think anything needs to be said about this movie, except for probably an apology for catching up on it after 3 years.Bheja Fry

Simply mind blowing :-) The narrative is very tight, the script is superb and let's say everyone except Ranvir Shorey is a pleasure to watch :-)
Have to watch this one to experience "Bheja Fry". Some of the moments will stay for long with you all and will become part of lingua franca. Can't forget the "Tharki" scene from the movie..
Sideways

one of the rare movies that absorbes you in the plot and characters and makes you feel one with them, there is no one larger than life, but both the leads are trying to come to terms with life. Two unlikely friends, go on a wine tasting trip for a week, before one of them gets married.
Miles (Paul Giamatti) is a sensitive writer, who has been trying very hard to get published, the shadow of his failed marriage and love with his ex wife, looms large on his psyche and even after 2 years he is unwilling to move on, in fact he has lost the want to move on, he is caught in his litost and celebrates it.
Jack (Thomas Haden Church), is an actor, who is finding the mid-life a bit tough since his acting career never took off as it was supposed to take off, he is getting married to some money bag and it is the most important thing to have happened to him, but he wants to have one last week of prolonged philandering, before he gives up his freedom and settles down.
Miles is depressed and Jack is desperate and together they make a hilarious set, trying to come to terms with life on their own terms.
It is a heartwarming movie that makes you see the irony and pain of life, through subtle humour.

Wedding Crashers...

Some really funny moments, some hilarious chemistry and same old cliche of falling in love and relinquishing the mindless chase, to bed as many women as you can. All in all a good time pass.

V For Vendetta

Just finished watching "V for Vendetta", Yes I know I am pretty late in catching up the said movie, but better late than never.
I really liked the movie, I am a sucker for these kind of larger than life movies, that make me forget everything else and make me believe for sometime that all humanity can unite for a cause, that freedom and liberty can rule and that all we need is one superhero to set the world right :-)
Wish I was that superhero.....
but I would have been a real evil one i guess.
Anyway I loved the movie, I remember watching Star wars "Phantom Menace" when i was in college, I picked up a tube light from my room (to be precise Tyagi's room) and went down to Raju's canteen, feeling like a Jedi Knight, yes movies do that to me, that is why I want to make movies, movies are my life.

Allure of solitude lies in it being perennial
I walk towards the golden sunset again
tired and unwilling to go on
have walked enough to know the futility of it all
have seen enough to have the want to shut out
have been a vagabond all my life
no place to call home
no place to seek solace
sought solace is all trivialities i could engage
now I have run out of destinations
I have run out of reason
just want to lie back and go to sleep
Dreams please don't trouble me again
hopes please don't shower yourself unto me
Woods are peaceful
mountain is senile
flowers are beautiful
soon, just wait

nothing to say
Want to post something but nothing comes to my mind, I have sort of gone blank, does it mean I don't have anythign to say anymore?? Or is this a pointer that I am too absorbed in my own world. But even on personal front i find nothing to say, nothing worth saying, nothing that has not been put down already. things have not changed. Have they stagnated then??
Watched Bheja-Fry this Sunday, and I must say i loved the movie.

I didn't know the height to which i would rise
I didn't know the depth to which i would fall
didn't know what i felt and how intensely
didn't know if I would cope up or languish
didn't know if hate will ruin the love or love will win
didn't know what hit me when it hit me
don't know if i truly understand it even now

Crazy dream
In a strange land, where time moves is circles
they rear them everyday, everyday is the same
animals, some you have seen, some unseen
humans, some you know of, some you don't
with dawn they are all born,
and vanish with dusk
each one is an incarnation of truth
lost long ago someplace
as the day progresses
you see the safari as never seen before
animals don't know their character
beasts are docile, bovines are aggressive
in a world gone Topsy-turvy
rhinoceros are playful of all
they let you bathe them, they let you be close
all humans have plastic smiles
I recognize a few faces here
but most of them don't register
It feels I have woken up from deep slumber
for i think something is wrong
as the evening approaches
all are ushered into big bath chambers
where they are washed away
i see the man opposite me
scars appear on his face
his face starts to melt
his legs give way
but he doesn't feel the pain
he is a lump of mass now
but i can still make out the hint of a grin
now it is my turn
and I am not too sure
i feel my skin splitting open
but there is no pain
I rejoice in the pouring liquid
and forget everything about the day
days are the same here
and it is an eternity we have lived
but now i question it
why, i am not sure
I think i remember yesterday
i think i remember the time going in circles
i think i understand what is happening
i think i have seen the pattern
I pat the rhino again
steer clear from the bovines
i stand on the same balcony
overlooking the mayhem below
i feel the discontent rising in me
i feel it has to end
come evening and the same ritual ensues
humans first take all the animals to wash
and then line up for the ritual bath
I am not too keen this time around
and i desecrate the age old wisdom of the land
i somehow keep away
and watch as others get lost
i feel my skin getting stretched and parched
I see some folks now
they bring me a liquid to apply
i put it on my body and am as good as new
they take me with them to a different land
and let me wander there
this land is a bit different
the time still goes in circles
but this time people persist
they are so many of them here
all alike, all image of one another
they walk as the sun goes up
they all seem happy
i see familiar faces now
I think i remember these faces
from a different life time
I walk along with them
but something is still wrong
none of them knows, why they are here
they say they are going for a ritual wash
this time they don't melt
with eyes glazed they come out
and meet me for the first time again
time goes round in circles here too
and I have to look for a way out.

Annie's Song - John Denver
You fill up me senses like a night in a forest
Like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses come fill me again.
Come let me love you, let me give my life to you
Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arms
Let me lay down beside you, let me always be with you
Come let me love you, come love me again.

Dead man walking
go sleep, where i entombed thee
don't wake up and walk
haunting everyone you come across
go lie down in that beautiful coffin
don't stray and seek anymore
you are dead now
and dead are not supposed to walk
you still feel, you say
you might have a soul, you muse
all your feelings are dead
and your soul is lost
don't become walking dead
lie down in that crypt of yours
you don't have a heart that beats anymore
you are but a corpse
and no one can love a corpse
don't try to find solace
you are damned for eternity
come to terms with the rot
no, you cannot smell the stench
you don't have any senses anymore
go back to the world of dead
and be there, even if you are awake
ponder over what went wrong?
no you cannot feel the rage
rage is a feeling too
an no, you cannot change death
even if it happened when you least desired
dead you are so remain dead
don't talk about anguish
don't think about pain
there is no point of remorse
yes you are lonely my dear
how cannot you be, you are dead.

Observations
If you want to write a suicide note, you don't want to die just yet
If you are waiting for love, stop waiting, go get it.
If life seems futile, stop bothering, it is futile.

Bhay ab nahin tha !
kuch oonche pahad
aur unpe chalte, dagmagate, hamare kadam
door se aati pani ki awaaj
aisa lagta ki nadi jharna ban beh rahi ho
aur manav use bandhne ki koshish main juta ho
is kolahal waale pani ke kinaare kinaare
chalta pahadon se apana rasta
Rasta kathin hai, aur mann vichilit hai
bhay kya hota hai jaan gaya hain mann
saath main jo hai, woh bahut hi priya hai
lautne ko mana karti hai woh
tum bhi maan jaate ho kush ho kar
bhay lekin ghar kar chuka hai
aur dimaag ab pag pag par darr raha hai
ab ek khai ko langhna hai
usper se jaata ek rassi ka pul hai
yeh sab kab hua nahin mallom mujhe
lekin use paani main girte dekha tha
aur phir uske peeche, agle hi pal main kooda tha
paani main pralya thi

waiting for the rain
Waiting for the rain
for rain drops to fall on my face
to hear the rat-a-tat on the roof
to see everything turn green
am waiting for the rains
when thousand souls come alive
cradle of life brims over
am waiting for the rains
when deep despairs pour out
heavens cry alongside you
and the tears bring joy
am waiting for the rains
to come home drenched
to long for something warm
to rejoice once again
to live once again

Road trip - I
I am sitting in a shady internet cafe in suburban Mumbai, trying to type on a keyboard that doesn't always work. The agitation creeps in, but this time I am determined not to delete the post and keep typing no matter what..
Am in Mumbai, not for work, nor for pleasure. Am visiting my folks, who had this long standing complaint that I have not been to Mumbai even though I am fokat for last 3 odd months. Yes it is true I quit my job some 3 months back. And I don't get disturbed when I think about it. In fact I feel a kind of relief that is difficult to explain.
Anyway, so I decided to drive up to Mumbai, I should say that It was a great drive, accept for 150 odd KM from chitradurga to Hubli, It is a very well kept four lane highway, and yes the dessert of course is the Expressway from Pune to Mumbai.
But once in Mumbai, I am suddenly surrounded by boredom, that I am trying my best to fight against. Milan Kundera is very helpful in warding off the boredom. A chance introduction to the writer's work by Abhishek, and I am hooked.
Am looking forward to the return trip and am missing Bangalore. I am amazed by the fact though.

Learn to love
me, my car and a never ending road,
that is all I have, that is all I need,
racing through unknown lands,
trying to leave the hurt behind,
seeing the sun go down
witnessing the dawn of Venus
the Orion shows himself
but my north star still alludes me
the arid wasteland, I am driving through
can use a good rainfall this year
the rain gods are not merciful though
the land remains parched and wanting
like the unquenchable thirst in my heart
the smell of burning wood overwhelms me
reminds me of the smouldering soul inside
no matter how many tears I shed
they fail to put out the fire
the wells have dried up too
and there is no music to be heard
I am heading for sea
but the water is of no use
Nothing seems right
and i don't belong
so I drive on
to the edge of that green mountain
and feel jealousy take me over
I go blind in rage and fury
but hidden from me
the scars of the mountain weep too
I don't know them
I don't see them
All I want is to be green
but green with envy I am
I meet a vagabond en route
ask him his secret of happiness
"hate none, love all" he utters
how, I exclaim
I cannot stop hate from running through my veins
I weep and wail and unwittingly call names
"love all" is the key he says
"hate none" will follow in duress
but to start, love yourself
love what you are, love what you have become
no one can cheat you
because love cannot be cheated
Once found love doesn't end
all you know is hate right now
I muse myself over what he said
and I move on towards my destination
a city where dreams come true
or so they say
I don't have anything to loose now
have lost everything that I held dear
and I am ready to learn to love
that is all I have, that is all I need,
racing through unknown lands,
trying to leave the hurt behind,
seeing the sun go down

just to be sure - borrowed
Was reading an old friend's blog and came across this post titled "Just to be sure".
It moved me. Some of the best things in life are so innocent and naive. I have to post the content here. I think it is from "Winnie the Pooh"
"Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. "Pooh," he whispered.
"Yes, Piglet?"
"Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw, "I just wanted to be sure of you.""

Gabble
i see two hands
i see a face with eyes closed
is the face in ecstasy or pain
another story for another day
i see a smile now
and a kiss with wet lips
i hear the proclamation of love
i don't see myself anywhere
I feel a naked body besides me
the body wriggles like a snake
and i wish it was dead
the phone rings in distance
two voices communicate
the talk is endearing
the face has a glow
I have seen this glow before
or so i like to think
i think I thought i was hurt
but love still blooms
instant love instant gratification
he sits there and tonsures his head
he wails out, lets celebrate death
I can hear my heart beat
i think i am very scared
a female with red eyes gives me a drink
i feel better but am drowsy now
i sit in the corner and watch them mate
i find myself engulfed in rage
the rage subsides and I am stoic
i am poisoned just like life
some memories get ingrained in mind
like snap shots of horror
and I keep visiting them again and again
in my house of sorrows

Virgin Mountain
on a distant horizon, she waits for him
in a world gone mad, she craves for him
what is love, she asks naively
but she is a seductress alright
a siren she is and she sings for him
she lures him, entices him
she calls herself his destiny
and he is a sucker for belief
he thinks he will find lasting love
he feels he can tame the medusa
make her hiss for him
little does he know his doom awaits
and his heart will turn to stone
but she loves him, or so she muses
he will have the heart that beats
and emotions that run deep
he would not freeze in pain
he would win her over she feels
she wants redemption too
she wants out of this purgatory
he would be her knight
and she her fair maiden
she beckons him and he gets drawn
and they have the mating dance
by the side of river styx
his eyes closed and his soul content
he reaches for her touch
she gives all she has to the bliss of a kiss
yes they stay together
and salvation is theirs for keeps
they still live on that mountain top

Casino
Watched the Martin Scorsese film after a gap of about 7 odd years and I saw it in a very different light. First time around i had found the movie very disturbing, I was devastated by Ginger (Sharon Stone's character), guess I was naive back then :-). this time around i saw it as a tale of survival in a world gone wrong. I fell in love with Joe Pesci's performance once again. It is his story, his zest to make it on his own, his dislike for authority, his want to possess what is off limits. and eventually his downfall.
One of the scenes that had remained etched in my memory forever has Joe Pesci stabbing a guy in his neck with a pen. and De Nero narrating in the background "No matter how big a guy might be, Nicky would take him on. You beat Nicky with fists, he comes back with a bat. You beat him with a knife, he comes back with a gun. And you beat him with a gun, you better kill him, because he'll keep comin' back and back until one of you is dead."
The opening scene also sticks out, It has the power of compelling you to watch the story of the guy who gets blown away :-) De Nero walks out to his car and turns the key and the car blows up, and all through this sequence he is narrating the following lines
When you love someone, you've gotta trust them. There's no other way. You've got to give them the key to everything that's yours. Otherwise, what's the point? And, for a while, I believed that's the kind of love I had.
Some other memorable quotes from the movie
A lot of holes in the desert, and a lot of problems are buried in those holes. But you gotta do it right. I mean, you gotta have the hole already dug before you show up with a package in the trunk. Otherwise, you're talking about a half-hour to forty-five minutes worth of digging. And who knows who's gonna come along in that time? Pretty soon, you gotta dig a few more holes. You could be there all fuckin' night. (Nicky - Joe Pesci's Charatcer)
think in all fairness, I should explain to you exactly what it is that I do. For instance tomorrow morning ill get up nice and early, take a walk down over to the bank and... walk in and see and uh... if you don't have my money for me, I'll... crack your fuckin' head wide-open in front of everybody in the bank. And just about the time that I'm comin' out of jail, hopefully, you'll be coming out of your coma. And guess what? I'll split your fuckin' head open again. 'Cause I'm fuckin' stupid. I don't give a fuck about jail. That's my business. That's what I do. (Nicky - Joe Pesci's Charatcer)
A drifter on prowl
moving from one green pasture to another
a lost ignorant soul
not absorbed by anything around
when he feels hungry he steals
when he feels scared he ravages
when he is happy, he sings
and dances to the tune
tune of an unheard song
tune of an unheard song
he lives for today
with no thought of tomorrow
tomorrow might be a bright dawn
or a gloomy rainy day
he will face it when it comes
he will live it if it happens

I saw you in his arms
I saw you making love to him
I saw a tear drop rolling down your cheek
what was the tear drop for
I probably never will understand
I saw you hawking love
I saw you proposition men
I saw you smile and be happy
and i saw you sad too
I saw you use your body
I saw you sell your soul
I was untouched unmoved
I had long back turned to stone
I saw you making love to him
I saw a tear drop rolling down your cheek
what was the tear drop for
I probably never will understand
I saw you hawking love
I saw you proposition men
I saw you smile and be happy
and i saw you sad too
I saw you use your body
I saw you sell your soul
I was untouched unmoved
I had long back turned to stone

Why.........
Why the heart burn, why the despondency
why the delusional self, why the desperateness
why the flutter of heart, why the breathlessness
why the agony of loss, why the desolation
why the wild flight of imagination
why the unfulfilled dreams
why the never ending tirade of wants and desires
why a mind immersed in sorrow
why a soul lost in transition
why a sour heart that bleeds
why the gut wrenching want to die
why the intelligence to comprehend it all
why the deception of momentary bliss
why the lies, why the truth
why can't he rest in peace
